Gender Matters


Gender Matters is a project covering Shropshire, the West Midlands and all bordering regions. We provide information and support to trans people, their family, friends and to professional organisations who wish to have more of an understanding of Gender Dysphoria, Transvestism or Transgender Issues. Gender Matters is managed by the Project Co-ordinator and a team of volunteers, most of whom are trans themselves.


The Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association, Inc.


The Harry Benjamin International Gender Dysphoria Association's Standards of Care for Gender Identity Disorders articulate our organization's professional consensus about the psychiatric, psychological, medical, and surgical management of gender identity disorders. Professionals may use this document to understand the parameters within which they may offer assistance to those with these problems. This document may also assist you with your research and understanding of the current thinking of professionals. This is the sixth version of the Standards of Care since the original 1979 document.


International Lesbian and Gay Association


The International Lesbian and Gay Association is a world-wide network of national and local groups dedicated to achieving equal rights for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) people everywhere. Founded in 1978, it now has more than 400 member organisations. Every continent and around 90 countries are represented. ILGA member groups range from small collectives to national groups and entire cities. ILGA is to this day the only international non-profit and non-governmental community-based federation focused on presenting discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation as a global issue.

International Resource


The International Resource Network (IRN), based at the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies (CLAGS) at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center and funded by the Ford Foundation, aims to link up researchers (from both academic and community bases) in areas related to diverse sexualities and genders. The goals of the IRN are to expand knowledge building, to foster comparative and collaborative projects among researchers, to advance curricular and course development, and to widen the availability of scholarly resources.
