ImageRobert Hamblin from Gender DynamiX delivered a guest lecture at Wits’ Department of Psychology in May 2008. The department offers a service course in Health Psychology to the Faculty of Health Sciences. This course is subscribed by students who are registered for Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Medicine and facilitated by board member of GDX Mzi Nduna

The Health psychology course attempts to develop, in graduates, an appreciation of the interrelatedness of biological, psychological, social and environmental factors in understanding, development, prevention and treatment of health problems.

The lecture was well received and dealt with the role of the health care worker in the Trans community. The guest lecture was focused on educating medicals students about Trans persons’ needs, biomedical developments, transitioning and the basics of assisting a Trans person in the absence of an operational transitions. The lecture took place at the Marie Curie Lecture theatre, Medical campus
