Bilaterals and government at the Trans Health & Advocacy Conference
The Trans Health & Advocacy Conference hosted by Gender DynamiX in Cape town, 26 – 28 November 2011, in partnership with among others the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) and the Open Society Institute for Southern Africa, is pleased to announce the presence of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP) at the conference. We are also delighted to welcome the National Department of Health, Department of Education, Department of Justice and The Department of Social Development, who will engage with the UN agencies in a panel on Monday, 28 November.
Government representatives, transgender individuals and bilaterals will be taking part in this panel discussion, on focusing on dialogue around the issues of transgender access to health services. This will be a unique opportunity for a diverse array of key players to converge on an issue central to the lives of transgender people. Along with this the World Health Organisation (WHO) will also be hosting a video address direct to the Conference.
Furthermore, an official satellite session with the World Association of Sexual Health (WAS) will also be taking place, with the president of WAS in attendance. This on Sunday evening, at the conference venue, and open to outside participants (check online for more details).
