Liesl Theron receives LGBTI Activism Awards PDF Print E-mail

Dream the Impossible Dream (DID) hosted the second annual LGBTI Activism Awards dinner on the 28 September in Braamfontein Johannesburg. The awards are supported by organisations such as OUT LGBTI Wellness, Behind the Mask and the Gay and Lesbian Archives (GALA).

Liesl Theron was nominated in just about every category - for the Health and well being Award, Training and Development Award, Community Builder Award and Rising Star Award. Liesl received an award for her contribution to all these categories - acknowledging her outstanding contribution towards building the `t´ in LGBTI into a more significant force.

 "I´d like to thank all the people who recognize the importance and value of our work" said Theron in her acceptance speech.

Liesl Theron is the founder and CEO  of Gender DynamiX - an organisation for transgender people in South Africa, and has already made a significant impact on the recognition of transgender people´s human rights.
