Liesl Theron, Founder and CEO of Gender DynamiX has been nominated as one of the five finalists at the Triangle Project Community Awards 2006-2007.
“She gave up the convenience and luxuries that came with her culinary career starting to serve the transgender community full time with Gender DynamiX. Triangle Project acknowledges Liesl Theron tonight as one of the finalists of the Triangle Project Community Awards for 2006 – 2007”, Marlow Valentine from Triangle Project in his Laudatio on 24 February 2007 at the ceremony.
This Community Awards was the sixth annual Awards event hosted by Triangle Project to honor people who make a difference in the lives lived by LGBT people of the Western Cape.
“The work you so unselfishly do for the greater Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community has not gone unnoticed – especially for your groundbreaking work in the Transgender community. You have gone the extra mile providing relevant information, resources, support and education to a sector of our community who are often misunderstood and rejected. Your dedication, commitment, perseverance and patience are awesome qualities that have uplifted the spirit of a marginalized and silenced community.
We wish you well in all your endeavors and trust that your giving nature will be well rewarded in the near future”, Valentine continues. Quoting from one of the nominating motivations he quotes “Her efforts cannot go unnoticed as she gives her all to people that she could easily have walked away from” and “Liesl has with her efforts established a Trans community and has given us a voice and visibility”.
