HIV and AIDS program officer (full time)
Gender DynamiX is pleased to announce a Full Time position for an HIV and AIDS program officer. This position’s term is determined by the length of the project and the term of funding. The position is most suitable for a transgender person in South Africa. We are encouraging transgender individuals with interest and/or experience and commitment to activism and the transgender communities in South Africa, to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Organise/facilitate HIV workshops for trans community
- Help in trans and HIV research
- be able to advocate for trans specific HIV issues at platforms, representing GDX
- be able to draft materials for constituency
- Be first line of consulting for constituency regarding HIV related questions
- Assisting and providing support to existing support groups
- Liaising with other NGO’s and projects
- Liaising with volunteers
- Documenting and reporting on activities undertaken.
- Facilitating and attending peer-to-peer support & training sessions
- Assist with conducting organizational research/ surveys
- Participating in planning processes for the organisation as a whole
- Planning, budgeting and establishing provincial outreach, including reporting on completion
Requirements:
- HIV and AIDS literacy/background
- knowledgeable about trans community
- demonstrated organisational skills
- demonstrated facilitation skills
- Has to be a transgender individual
- Good English and highly recommendable to speak at least one African language
- Willingness to relocate to Cape Town
- Immediate availability – [negotiable]
- Interest and/or experience in activism
- Has to be a South-African National
Outreach Internship (3 months)
Gender DynamiX is pleased to announce 2 x Outreach positions of 3-month internships to transgender persons in South Africa. We are encouraging transgender individuals with interest and/or experience and commitment to activism and the transgender communities in South Africa, to apply. The three months will see involvement in the outreach work of Gender DynamiX, and the intern will be provided with the chance to learn practical skills in terms of organising outreach, as well as working in an NGO. These positions may constitute part-time employment afterwards.
Responsibilities:
- Initiating new support groups
- Assisting and providing support to existing support groups
- Replying to telephonic and internet requests for information from constituency
- Liaising with other NGO’s and projects
- Liaising with volunteers
- Making presentations at events where nominated to do so.
- Attending meetings or events on behalf of Gender DynamiX where nominated to do so
- Documenting and reporting on activities undertaken.
- Facilitating and attending peer-to-peer support & training sessions
- Assist with conducting organizational research/ surveys
- Participating in planning processes for the organisation as a whole
- Planning, budgeting and establishing provincial outreach, including reporting on completion
- Maintaining Health24 online referrals, and checking the FB group daily.
Requirements:
- Has to be a transgender individual
- Good English and highly recommendable to speak at least one African language
- Willingness to relocate to Cape Town
- Immediate availability
- Interest and/or experience in activism
- Has to be a South-African National
