Robert Hamblin Bio (English) PDF Print E-mail
Robert Hamblin is a founding member of Gender DynamiX and eventually became the first Trans person to be the Chairperson of it's Management Committee. In March 2010 he resigned from the GDX management committee to immerse himself full time in Transgender activism. He is now the deputy director and advocacy manager of the orginisation. To do this he has put his career as photographer and fine artist on the slow.

Robert is a Trans man who has represented Gender DynamiX on many national and International platforms. His art is informed by gender and he uses it in his advocacy, presentations and lectures about Transgender issues.

Robert’s position as a well known artist and media man has put him in a unique position to advocate for Transgender rights and the normalisation of Transgender visibility. He has appeared in numerous television shows, radio programs and has been the subject of many press articles.

He is firmly committed, with his team, to the process  of making Gender DynamiX a powerful, truly African Transgender voice.

He is married to a feminist, often admits to being a pink boer, lives in Cape Town and believes that the natural evolution of gender related bureaucracy  should be genderless identity documents.
